What is it about?
I used to work in an auto shop. One day, a man drove into the shop and parked in a bay without saying anything to anyone. His car was like something out of Mad Max and he claimed to be a horseman of the apocalypse. There were a number of reason to think he could be telling the truth. The experience sticks with me to this day, especially with all that has transpired over the past couple of years with the pandemic. In times like these its easy to draw parallels to the book of Revelation in the bible which is really what inspired this song.
Lyrics:
Did you know, the world would end this way That food would be worth more than fame Did you know that the horsemen are riding this way And the pale one's got everyone fearing his name And we'd go to war with ourselves over such foolish things The horsemen are riding this way The horsemen are riding this way When it was said and done the sheep had just elected all the wolves they never saw their teeth and now the wolves are sleeping full The horsemen are riding this way Famine rode his faded mustang down the boulevard and waved at the people as they slowly starved its like a book I read once but cannot remember The forest fire consumed the all in burning embers Did you know the world would end this way Did you know Famine rode his faded mustang down the boulevard and waved at all the people as they slowly starved it's like a book a read once but cannot remember Not I can't remember I just can't remember And the horsemen rode in without speaking With every step they took the earth was screaming If you watch to long you might stop breathing but that may ease the burden I don't know
